The ArduCam 1.58MP IMX296 Color Global Shutter Camera Module w/ M12 Lens for RPi is designed around the SONY IMX296 Color Global Shutter image sensor. The global shutter technology incorporated into this camera module significantly reduces or even eliminates unwanted image artifacts. These artifacts are often seen with traditional rolling shutter image sensors due to motion during image capture.

The camera module is fitted with a 55° (HFOV) M12 Lens, which is manually focused. This feature allows for its application in various scenarios, including macro photography and low-light conditions. Furthermore, the camera module is inherently compatible with Raspberry Pi and is fully supported by the libcamera and Picamera2 library.
